The FP du Toit Transport Group is in existence since 1968 and diversified over time from a solely long-haul operation to one which includes Jet.X Couriers (an express road and air courier service), Pro Parcel (a part-load and distribution operation), as well as Wesbank Transport (cross border and national transport). This is In line with our strategy to offer our clients a complete range of services to satisfy all their logistical requirements.

 

This position reports to the Depot Manager and is based in Windhoek at Brakwater.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure safe and secure, handling, loading and off- loading of consignments. Be present whilst loading and report any damages/anomalies, to Supervisor/Manager prior to departure.
  • Ensure consignments are off-loaded, where applicable and when approved, in designated areas in a safe and manner area and obtain the necessary proof of delivery and other applicable documents from the customer.
  • Adhere to procedures related to re-fueling, handling of fuel cards, petty cash, etc., in line with Company Policy.
  • Complete MDC register/ trip sheets diligently and ensure that it submitted timeously to supervisor/manager
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations on company and customer premises.
  • Adhere to road and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to security measures, including unpacking, inspections, quality checks, etc.
  • Perform daily pre and post trip, vehicle inspections and reports defects immediately.
  • Ensure truck and cab is clean and neat at all times.
  • Any other duties in line with the responsibilities of a Cross Border Driver.

 

The suitable candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:

 

  • Grade 10/12 with Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Cross-Border operations and the documentation process.
  • Namibian Citizen with a valid passport.
  • Code 14, CE Driver’s license (Minimum of 5 years’ experience) and a valid PDP (Dangerous Goods).
  • Must have good knowledge of destinations: Namibia, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Botswana.
  • Be proficient in delivering freight timeously and without any damages
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English and Afrikaans).
  • Must have high attention to detail and the ability to solve problems.
  • Must have sober habits.
  • Must have a valid code of conduct (Police Clearance) not older than 3 months.
