The FP du Toit Transport Group is in existence since 1968 and diversified over time from a solely long-haul operation to one which includes Jet Couriers (an express road and air courier service), Pro Parcel (a part-load and distribution operation), as well as Wesbank Transport (cross border and national transport). This is In line with our strategy to offer our clients a complete range of services to satisfy all their logistical requirements.
This position is based in Walvis Bay and will report to the Pro Parcel Business Unit Manager
Duties and responsibilities:
• Ensuring that load quality, timelines, and work efficiency goals are met, including the inspection/loading of goods to be delivered to ensure that all is accounted for and that there are no damages
• Reporting all accidents and injuries on time and proper investigation of these.
• Plan, direct, control, and monitor the depot’s budget(s).
• Will be involved in the hiring process.
• Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
• Supervise, coach and train subordinates.
• Control costs and expenses, ensuring staff are productive, accurate and adheres to deadlines.
• Analyse performance metrics/data on a daily basis and implement improvements where needed.
• Comply with all laws, regulations and ensure ISO requirements are met.
• Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of on depot’s performance.
• Daily fleet management.
• Any other duties in line with the responsibilities of a Depot Manager.
The suitable applicant will have:
• A valid grade 12 (with at least 26 points), with a Degree in Transport/Logistics Management.
• 10 years’ experience in a managerial/ supervisory position of which 5 years’ must have been in a fleet and/or distribution environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills and a meticulous work ethic.
• Knowledge of Parcel Perfect will be a distinct advantage.
• Attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Friendly disposition and an excellent communicator.
• Ability to work over weekends and under immense pressure.
• The ability to take his/her own initiative, to identify and to solve problems that may arise.
• High regard for honesty and integrity.
• Police clearance certificate (not older than 3 months) – No criminal record.
• Valid driver’s license, with own reliable transport.
• Namibian Citizenship.
